Engineered to handle the demands of high-performance driving, this intercooler features a super-efficient Tube and Fin stepped core that significantly minimises pressure drops and boosts power and torque by dramatically reducing charge air temperatures. With a 70% larger frontal area and nearly double the internal volume compared to the OE intercooler, it’s a game-changer.
The stock intercooler on N55 engines often struggles under higher power and intense driving conditions, leading to serious power losses as air temperatures spike and requiring long cool-down times. The MMR Competition Intercooler solves this with its massive Tube and Fin stepped core, offering nearly twice the core volume and a 70% larger frontal area than the OE unit. The stepped core is equipped with internal turbulators for enhanced cooling performance, while CFD-optimized end tanks ensure optimal airflow across the core.
We offer two intercooler options for the N55 Fx vehicles: this Competition version and our High-Performance unit with Bar and Plate construction. The Competition version is recommended for maximum performance applications due to its lower pressure drop, ensuring the highest possible airflow and power output. It’s also lighter, though slightly more expensive than the High-Performance option.
Our development focused on balancing maximum IAT cooling with minimal pressure loss, allowing for increased size without added lag.
